ஜெனரல் சரத் பொன்சேகா விரைவில் சிவில் நீதிமன்றத்தில் நிறுத்தப்படவிருப்பதாக அரசாங்கம் அறிவித்துள்ளது.

கொழும்பில் இன்று நடைபெற்ற ஊடகவியலார்கள் மாநாட்டில் உரையாற்றுகையில், அரசாங்கப் பேச்சாளர், பேராசிரியர் ஜி.எல்.பீரிஸ் இதனைக் கூறினார்.

At last The Government had realized its earlier mistake of filing a case under a Court Marshal, which has no jurisdiction to try a civilian, a person who is no longer in the employ of the Army. I think a charge of conspiracy to overawe the Government may be attempted. But to prove it is rather diificult. If Sarath could get Prof.Boyle of Illinois State University or UK's Richardson,QC or Navaneethampillai, formerly of the War Crimes Tribunal,of The Hague and Humn Rights Commissioner, of the UNO he may succeed. Even if he succeeds the government will continue to harass him. or have him killed by paramilitaries as happened to Gen.Janaka Perera.
